GortHow about some information. Since everyone that I know wishes they had the V-8 instead of the V-6 what I'd like to know is cost. Don't want any exact numbers and I realize that huge amount of time and experimenting that went on to get this result, but in round numbers what would it cost to convert a stock Prowler like mine to the V-8? I know I have no idea about the cost since this a rare changeover. Not counting the cost of the complete engine just the specialty items that had to be made and install costs. $10k,20k,30k,etc. more?

Is easy or guarenteed. I watched, was deeply involved and saw this whole thing go down over like a 16 month period. Made many trips! Did a ton of personal testing. Worked closely with the builder and even though not a mechanic know a ton now about the prowler and conversion process.

So much is hand built and I say who ever you partner with to do it is not going to make a ton of money.

I can't even tell you how many hours they spent. There is no manual or instruction guide for a 1 off car or anyone a builder can call. It's trial and error!

It's a a custom car. Nothing guarenteed I have over 2650 personal miles so far the first year and love every mile and yes I keep a spare custom transmission on the shelf just in case and on #2.

I drive it smart, I know the car well since I was involved in every step of the build with performance innovations as well as did a ton of research going in. Like many of you all I always heard about all of these custom builds, would see a bunch cool build pictures but then what they would disappear. Rarely do you see guys really drive them come out to events, push them on a track or keep everyone posted long term. (this is how I felt for years, always wondered and never could understand the whole thing!

If you listen close in the video you may notice I'm manually shifting the whole time since it's aggressive driving.
My car has 3 computers! I learned how it drive it now! I mean your talking over 430hp and 425 ft lbs to torque. my v6 with alot of work never got pass 196hp to the wheels. I bearly need to use even 1/2 the throttle with a 6.1 Hemi prowler and flying!

I'm not a Rich guy just a middle class prowler owner like many of you with 2 little kids had a dream, loved the car a lot took a big risk and it paid off.

Unlike many other top secret projects I put very aspect, pain, set back and success online here so folks could see the real deal.

Before going there like many of you I looked at every option and like wondered if it could be done. Can it yes! Is it perfect and can you use all of the power no!

After all I learned and have seen, I don't think you will see another one like this one! That hood alone took over 3.5 months.

Cars are meant to be driven and enjoy it!

Prowl on!! I'm So glad I kept the prowler and followed dream!! One of the best cars out there and great people like everyone here!
All go fast prowler guys I have met are a bit different.
You have to really love the car a lot, be a bit of a risk taker, save up a bit and willing to wait to get a big goal!

I joined the club and still smiling! I think I'm good for the next 12 yrs!
I'm sure there will be much more twists and turns to the story

Glad it turned out to be a super nice car. I was just interested that maybe the builder would do another one if the price was reasonable.16 months is a long project,maybe he's as glad as you are that it's finished ..smiles The bellhousing alone looks difficult to make. The builder is pretty talented.

Curb weight of stock prowler is around 2800. i dont think the Hemi Kat is much more than 2900. It flies! I bearly use 1/4 of the throttle/pedal which is has been custom converted to electronic also to work with hemi computer!

Its very very different than before and will bite you quick it not driven smart.

Just think about this a SRT Challenger weighs Curb Weight: 4140 lbs
SRT Jeep 4,788 lbs

Stock prowler
253 HP and 255 TQ

Hemi prowler with 6.1 srt engine 425hp and 420tq before any mods!
Just think about that for a minute!

It means drive smart!!

You mean this little thing! Your right! I call it more like a Mona Lisa of hand welded art work!! Funny thing was the 2 guys at Performance innovation did pretty much the whole car in house including all of this hand welding


Pictured here is our custom bell-housing engine adapter to adapt the 6.1 Hemi engine to accept the prowler style drive shaft. The rear engine mount is also integrated into the bell-housing.

Gort I think the 2 years before I pulled the trigger I contacted every builder or owner that would get back to me or still in business about go fast prowler options. On the Hemi most said they got it done, was far from easy but didn't want to do it again. When I called Brendan on my side was passionate. Did one before people didn't think it was possible and he wanted to try again at the time. Again timing is also everything.
I think he has done the most as well as built 10 plus custom 42le Trans for other shops but from everything I saw not easy and every car especially since all prowlers are hand built are a bit different and every owners design a bit different. A few cars later not sure. Think of this a supercharger kit installed bolt in kit for a challenger with instructions done well will run you 10k in less than a month out of a box with some tuning

If your a shop that wants to stay in business what would you do?
Build a prowler? And roll the dice ? How much could you actually charge
To make some money and guarentee your work.

Every story, every builder that made it work it was personal and you will see passion in the project, work and final product that money cannot buy!

I will say what a wise man named dean told me a long time ago. "There is nothing easy, fast , or simple going fast in a prowler." The first 25 hp that makes you think or feel like your going faster is not that hard (gears,headers, intake etc) after that your into big bucks. In 2013 many of these things are not even made any more.

The 5.0 looked bolt in but at onekat will share still is very custom and one off. If someone had figured out a affordable and reliable option would have been done about 12 years ago.

Low volume cars with many people that do not even drive them much means little to no aftermarket support. You can't make money on it and many that did it was more in it for passion than funds but you cannot run a business like that long term!

Paxton a well know supercharger company with a ton of Rd and aftermarket only did a limited run and if you call them now they won't even talk about it or service ya. Tells you something

If you have a dream follow it. But do your homework, be involved, double the time that anyone tells you, and stay involved and don't be cheap.

If you just want to go fast cruise your prowler and turn heads and buy a very fast Mopar, srt, Camaro or mustang or Vette on the side and get you need for speed fix! A lot of them out there with easy bolt in parts that anyone will install!!
